fix(plugins/settings.plugins): small errors & inconsistencies

- Soft errors now nudge UI to rerender.
- `runPluginLate` will throw anyway, so early return is cleaner.
- `confirmInstall` returns a `Promise` which the AlertModal should await before closing.
