The Export System

Universal Knowledge Format

Claude OS exports knowledge in a generic, documented format that any application can consume:

Format: SQLite database with:

  • Documents (text content)
  • Embeddings (vector search)
  • Metadata (sources, versions)
  • Schema version (compatibility)

Benefits

How to Build a Family Member

Step 1: Understand the Export Format

Read: EXPORT_FORMAT_SPEC.md

Key tables:

  • knowledge_bases - Metadata about KBs
  • documents - Text content
  • embeddings - Vector embeddings (optional)
  • export_metadata - Format version

Step 2: Import Knowledge
